Statement
As a kid, I was oddly obsessed with keeping things in order—not letting the food on my plate touch, video games go here, toys go there, making sure everything had its place. This need for organization and separation has found itself in my artistic practice where each element and/or medium in every composition has its own place. My indecisiveness mixed with my love for variety and balance allow me to create works that are both orderly and eclectic. Each piece I create is a reflection of my current inspirations and emotions, resulting in an ever-evolving body of work that is both personal and universally resonant.
Bio
Miami based artist Braden Walls (b. 1992) skillfully blends order and separation with his nontraditional use of mixed media in a unique style he has dubbed Neo-Synthetic Cubism. His newest compositions are informed by a lifelong need for structure with a hint of indecisiveness, resulting in works where each element occupies its own rectangular space, and often its own medium, while contributing to a singular narrative—a sort of Piet Mondrian meets David Hockney, if you will. Growing up in a small town in Arkansas, the arts weren't something he was ever encouraged to pursue. That all changed when he attended University where he stumbled upon his first drawing class. He went on to receive his BFA in Studio Art in 2016 and has since exhibited his work in multiple group and solo shows and has been privately collected all across the U.S. and overseas. With his recent move to Miami, Walls plans to establish himself in the local art scene, beginning with a solo exhibition in Fall 2025.
